Perlman, Yitzhak

Perlman, Yitzhak
(1945- )
   Virtuoso violinist and teacher. Born in Jaffa, he contracted polio at the age of four and continues to use crutches. He studied at the Academy of Music in Tel Aviv before attending Julliard in New York City, making his debut at Carnegie Hall in 1963. He is generally considered one of the finest violinists of his generation.
